Community Service Report
BRIEF REPORT ON THE COMMUNITY SERVICE
I am very glad that the community service I have been yearning to do has eventually come to pass. I did my service with World Vision at Bongo a district in the Upper East Region of Ghana. I was warmly welcome by the manager of World Vision as she ushered me into her guest house. I can not forget of the hospitality the staff of world vision showed to me during my service.
I started the work on 20th July, 2009; though there was no much work to do I participated in the inspections of some projects with the staff. For instance, I visited Gowrie Senior Technical High school to take pictures of students who are beneficiaries of World Vision. That was where I learnt how they identify the needy students and how they offer support to these students.
I was very inspired by the mission and vision statements of World Vision; the vision statement is “our vision for every child, life in all its fullness, our prayer for every heart, the will to make it so”. And the mission is “To follow our lord and savior Jesus Christ in working with the poor and oppressed to promote human transformation, seek Justice and bear witness to the good news of the kingdom of God”. What now rings in my ears is if a person is able to have vision by God’s grace which is very beneficial worldwide, I am also motivated to fulfill my dreams and vision under God’s will. I am to be a responsible person to serve all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender and alongside the poor and oppressed as a demonstration of God’s unconditional love for all people.
More power to ANE for this wonderful coordination as the service was very beneficial to me. I was not just there to see what they do but also to reciprocate this work to others to grow and realise their dreams in future.
